At 4:15 the alarm goes off, I realize what is in store for me this day. If I can just get through this 20 mile run, then I am off to Austin. So somehow I did get through 20.2 miles in the heat, got to my mom's house where I showered and managed to get dressed and ready. Then Stan came with the kids so mom could watch them while me and Stan went out to "breakfast". So we get in the car and after a while of driving, I hand him a birthday card. He opens the card and finds 2 tickets to the UT football game. Then he realized they were for later that day, he looks at me and says "No way!" about a hundred times and then says "So I guess we aren't going to breakfast huh?". Yes I surprised him, and we headed to Austin to celebrate his 30th birthday a little early. Once we got there we got in our hotel, dropped of our stuff, and then headed down to tailgate. We met up with my sister who helped set this whole thing up and then we went to the game. At this point I realized that Austin is hotter than I cared to remember but we managed. Of course the Longhorns rocked and crushed them which always makes things more enjoyable. Then after a few traffic mishaps we made it to dinner at about 11pm. The next day we went to brunch, got stocked up on Longhorn gear for the entire family, and hung out with my sister. Then the real fun came: The Nike Human Race. Just picture 15,000 people (all sweaty), Austin heat at 6:30PM, and the Austin hill country, oh and did I mention how miserable I still was from the 20 miler I had just done? Yes we did it and survived, 6.2 grueling miles of hills hills hills. Stan rocked it and I was the last to finish out of the three of us, but I was happy that I even finished it. So what better thing to do after being sweaty, then drive back to Dallas! We headed home late Sunday night and got in bed shortly after 1AM. It was such a fun weekend, too bad all the running got in the way!!!
