Happy 60th Birthday PawPaw!

We went down to Cedar Creek again to have some fun at the lake and also to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday! We had a surprise family gathering for him and he got to show off his new boat. Kate and Austin started their day by playing on the water slides again, no big surprise here! Then we decided it was time for a boat ride. Katie hasn't been a big fan of boats since she got sea sick on the boat island hopping in Hawaii, Austin too. So after a struggle to get Katie in her lifejacket, we were off in PawPaw's new boat. And to our surprise, they both loved the boat!! They made it about 30 minutes before they crashed out, here are the before and after shots:

Here is my sister-in-law and her two little ones, Faith and Ryan enjoying the boat ride:

Aunt She-She with her mini-me:Later in the day, Austin decided he really wanted back on that boat! He sat in it on the dock pretending to be driving it and had a blast with that, except he kept complaining that it wasn't working. So we decided later that it was time to let him drive the boat for real, he is 2 years old already and probably a far better driver than many ouut there on the water anyways. Then we started to pull out from the slip, and this was he reaction (he was so tired here but determined to drive):So PawPaw decided to give him a hand with the controls although Austin was convinced he was doing all the work:
When it was time for presents, my sister was able to come up with the best of all. She had Roger Staubach personally autograph a football that says Happy 60th Birthday Larry! My dad is a huge Cowboys fan, always has been. He works for them out at Valley Ranch and his newest perk is that he has now installed Tom Landry's toilet down at the lake for all of us to use. Kinda weird, but pretty cool! Only true Cowboy fans would understand how cool it is to sit in the same place he did!! Haha!

Here is Austin playing with the inflatable walker my dad has to use now that he is 60! Austin found good use of the Panic Button in the front. Everytime Katie comes around, he knows he needs to squeek it!
Well that was our exciting Saturday, now it's off to recovery clean up Sunday!!

Marathon Training Continues

I am in week 11 of my marathon training and I still haven't decided on if I am interested in even running another marathon yet. We did a 12 mile run today with some extra hill work after so ended up being a half marathon distance......just for fun though. I have thought about Portland, Seattle, White Rock, but I still have no decisiveness with what my goals are. But I have decided that I will make up my mind by Saturday, when I am either running 14, 16, or 18 miles, depending on the marathon I choose, if any at all. Oh and running in the 100 and bazillion degree temps is not helping me want to run. I think I should have taken up swimming as a hobby!

Back in the Water Again

Today we had a Stroller Strides playgroup at the community pool. I was a bit nervous having both kids in the water again after my lesson learned last week, but everything went great. The kids played well, splashed around, and worked up such an appetite we went home earlier than I would have liked. And for 1.50 for all three of us to get in, it sure is the cheapest thing to do on a summer afternoon! No pics today, I was to busy watching the kids like a hawk!

Swim Fun

We went over to my dad's and swam tonight with Jason, Jennifer, Shannon, and all the kiddos. The kids had alot of fun and mommy learned a lesson in watching her children more closely. Things can happen in a split second, so be sure to watch your kids carefully when they are swimming!

Aquarium Day

We spent our last day of vacation going to the Dallas World Aquarium! The kids got to check out lots of animals and fish and see all their friends from Stroller Strides who came too. After going through the aquarium, we headed over to have lunch with my mom and then the kids got shown off to all her co-workers.The kids had a great morning and then after naps they got to make and decorate some cookies. I don't know when the next blog will be, I am sure people know more about our lives now than they ever imagined they would! We had a great stay-cation and can't wait til next year!

Water Water Everywhere!

The kids had a fun-filled water day today! We started off with a visit to the spraypark, then a dip in MeMe's pool, and finally we went swimming in our neighborhood pool this evening! The kids are water logged and busy sleeping now, but here are some pics.

Playing around

Today we started our morning off with a trip to Owen's Farm, you know, the place where they make Owen's Sausage. They got to take a hay ride, feed the sheep and goats, and hang out with some other Longhorns (aka Bevos). Then we went to lunch at the Purple Cow, thank you to Shayla for recommending it. The food was great and the kids loved their purple ice creams! Then we made a trip to Sprinkles to pick up some cupcakes for later. I also snapped a pic of the kids holding hands in the backseat. They have been doing this alot lately since they are so close together in Stan's car. I think it is adorable! The unfortunate thing, is that they are also close enough to hit, kick, and annoy each other! At home we relaxed most of the day before we headed out for some much needed yardwork. While we worked hard, the kids played in Katie's princess sprinkler hopscotch thing. Everyone had another great day!

Jungle Themed Day

We had a wonderful family adventure day today! We headed for the Fort Worth Zoo this morning and got there as soon as it was opening to try and avoid the heat. It didn't work! The kids had so much fun at the zoo looking at all the animals and making animals noises at them. The penguins were definitely their favorites, we had to swing by twice to see them. We tried to drop them off with the primates (since they are monkeys!), but they wouldn't take them. So we settled for taking them over to Morgan's house afterwards to meet new baby Austin and play with big sister Dylan. Dylan shared her toys and played with the kids in the backyard for a bit while I oogled over baby Austin, she is super cute!! Then we headed over to the Rainforest Cafe where the kids got to further their jungle experience! At dinner, the balloon artist guy came over and made Katie a butterfly and Austin a monkey balloon, this quickly became the highlight at dinner, it definitely wasn't the food. After dinner we walked the mall and the kids suckered us into getting them these carts for the journey and it actually worked out pretty well. Here are the pics!

Chuck, Waterfalls, Ducks, and Parks!

So today was our first full day of our stay-cation! We started off our morning with a quick trip to Chuck E Cheese (it is so nice on weekday mornings, there was only one other kid there when we got there!). Then we went to Hawaiian Falls for some fun in the sun. After this we headed home for naps and showers so that we could get ready for more fun later on. After dinner, we ventured out and fed the ducks and turtles and played at a local park. Now we are home, ready for bed, and ready for more family adventures tomorrow!! Here are some pics!
