Day Out with Thomas

On Friday night we drove down to the lake to have a campout in PawPaw's RV, aka "bus". The kids had fun in the bus and we even managed to get a little sleep. The next morning they were awakened pretty early by the sweet smell of chocolate donuts! This was the beginning of an exciting day for them! After breakfast, we all hopped in the car for another hour and a half drive down to Rusk, TX in the middle of nowhere. We were going to see Thomas the Train, our favorite icon right now. It was myself, Stan, Kate, Austin, PawPaw, Sandra and Christian ready to ride the rails. As soon as we got there we headed over for a photo op with the big guy himself:

After meeting Thomas up close, the kids started off on the day's adventure. The first station we went to was the Imagination Station. The kids played on the train tables, colored pictures, made lots of stamp art and blew some bubbles:

After this it was time to head off for our actual train ride with Thomas. This was so supposed to be the highlight of the day, it was by far my least favorite. I think I have motion sickness in my old age!! The kids had fun and that's what mattered. Also the entire 30 minute train ride we got to listen to the songs of Thomas the Train, I almost lost my mind!

Next up, temprary tattoos! The kids got to pick their trains, Katie picked Rosie and Austin picked James.
Then it was time to stand in line to meet Sir Topham Hatt himself. The line was so long that PawPaw and Katie went and found the only chair in the whole place and sat down in the shade to read!
And then it was time to meet the big guy! The kids were so brave and stood right next to him without even being scared. Next we need to work on the smiles!
What a great day we all had. The kids also got to show PawPaw all the cool things the gift shop had to offer! He bought them each a train, a flag, and a book! We were set! Then I decided to go get them a train whistle to share, I regret this decision now!! We also had some lunch there before we headed back. We broke up the 3 hour drive by stopping at the lake again on the way home. The kids played on the playground, had a snow cone, and ran around with Faith and Christian some more! Then we headed home exhausted and ready to crash out!
